Hand Woven Sustainable Textiles

KULU textiles has created a hand woven collection inspired by a victorian textile process called Shadow Tissues. The process merges screen print with weaving by printing the warp threads before hand weaving the cloth. The technique and materials aim to create more sustainable textiles by using only natural fibers and water based inks. This traditional technique has been replicated with a contemporary approach, through use of colour and design. The cloth has been hand woven and embellished after weaving with further layers of print, creating a unique, modern aesthetic for this collection of contemporary textiles. The collection has been handcrafted into original art pieces made in collaboration with J Pryor Carpentry framed in Ash and Oak. The technique celebrates slow textiles through traditional process and craftsmanship.
